The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t have a second-round pick entering the 2022 NBA draft, but they left with one.

The Bucks got back into the draft, dealing for the No. 58 pick and selecting French guard Hugo Besson, who played in New Zealand this past season.

The 6-foot-6 Besson was an early entrant last year after playing in France but then joined the New Zealand Breaks of the Australian NBL. In 25 games he averaged 13.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 27.4 minutes.

This is the third consecutive year Milwaukee had the last pick of the draft. There were only 58 picks in the 2022 draft as the Bucks and Miami both had to forfeit picks. In 2020, the Bucks got Sam Merrill and last year took Georgios Kalaitzakis. Both those selections, like this year’s, were draft-day trades.
