Brewers prospect tracker

Minor-league baseball is back! With games back on in 2021 every Thursday for the rest of the season, Bally Sports Wisconsin will take a closer look at some specific young players in the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system -- as well as noting others who might be stepping up -- measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

Notable: An 11-game hitting streak ended Sept. 15. Zamora is batting .304/.360/.413 in September.

Other notes: Biloxi RHP Noah Zavolas fanned a season-high 11 over seven innings (4 H, 2 R, 2 BB) at Pensacola on Sept. 9. … Wisconsin RHP Evan Reifert notched two saves, tossing 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief over three appearances. He allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out nine. Reifert was selected in the 30th round of the 2018 draft by Texas but didn’t sign. The Brewers signed him as an undrafted college player in July 2020. He debuted this season and has a 2.22 ERA, .162 OBA and 82 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings with the Timber Rattlers after a brief stay in Carolina (9 IP, 1 R, 16 K). … Carolina 3B Alex Binelas (3rd round, 2021) was 8-for-24 with a double, four home runs, eight runs and seven RBI this past week. The native of Oak Creek, Wis., and a product of Louisville, Binelas was promoted from rookie ball in Arizona to the Mudcats on Aug. 16. In 25 games with Carolina, the left-handed hitting 2021 draft pick is slashing .337/.404/.673 with 10 doubles, eight home runs, 26 runs and 25 RBI. He’s reached base in 24 of his 25 games and hit home runs in back-to-back games Sept. 14-15 and also had a pair in a 4-for-5 effort Sept. 11. MLB Pipeline lists Binelas as Milwaukee’s No. 17 prospect. We have a feeling that number will be higher entering 2022. … Mudcats OF Ernesto Martinez only played in two games (Sept. 14 and 15) but homered in each. … ACL Brewers Blue 1B Quinton Low (13th round, 2021) played his first full week of pro ball after debuting Sept. 7 (going 1-for-1 with a walk) and had seven hits in 16 at-bats with three walks (.438 average, .526 on-base).
