The Milwaukee Brewers placed starter Adrian Houser on the 15-day injured list Wednesday and recalled right-handed reliever Justin Topa from Triple-A Nashville.
Houser exited his start Tuesday against St. Louis due to a strained right groin, trailing 2-0 with one out in the fourth inning. In 22 games this season (21 starts), the 29-year-old Houser has compiled a 4.73 ERA and 1.461 WHIP.
Houser fared much better in 2021, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.279 WHIP across 28 appearances.
Topa, 31 years old, has pitched five times for the Brewers this year -- most recently on Sept. 19. Topa has given up two earned runs on seven hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings.
Milwaukee finishes its season series against NL Central champion St. Louis at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. The action can be seen on Bally Sports Wisconsin and the Bally Sports Wisconsin app beginning at 6 p.m. with "Brewers Live."
