The Milwaukee Brewers acquired right-handed pitcher J.C. Mejía from the Cleveland Guardians on Monday for a player to be named later or cash.

Mejía was designated for assignment by Cleveland on Friday.

The 25-year-old made his MLB debut last season for Cleveland and appeared in 17 games (11 starts), posting a 1-7 record, 8.25 ERA and 8.1 K/9.

He was clobbered in those 11 starts, surrendering 4+ runs in eight of them, registering a 9.78 ERA and serving up 11 home runs. However, Mejía found a bit of success as a reliever, allowing two runs and whiffing 11 hitters in 10 innings (1.80 ERA).

Mejía notched a 19-20 record, 3.12 ERA and 16 saves across three seasons in the minor leagues.
