Ethan Small, Milwaukee’s 2019 first-round pick, is back with the big club.

The Brewers promoted Small on Friday while sending right-hander Tyson Miller to Triple-A Nashville.

The left-handed Small made his major-league debut in 2022, pitching 6 1/3 innings in two starts.

Converted to a reliever this year, Small posted a 2.33 ERA, 1.086 WHIP and 15.0 K/9 in 19 1/3 innings over 12 appearances with the Sounds. Lefties are hitting just .100 (2-for-20) off him with 11 strikeouts.

Small will be the third recent former first-rounder to play for the Brewers this season, joining Brice Turang (2018) and Garrett Mitchell (2020).

Reliever Hoby Milner is the only other left-handed pitcher on the Brewers’ active roster.

Miller made four relief appearances for Milwaukee, allowing five runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Milwaukee continues its four-game set against San Francisco on Friday. All of this weekend’s games can be seen on Bally Sports Wisconsin, the Bally Sports app and Bally Sports+ beginning with Brewers Live at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
