Adrian Houser, Brewers starting pitcher (⬆️ UP)
Houser tossed a gem against Miami on May 8, going six innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking no one. Oh, and he also clubbed his second home run of the season – and also his second against the Marlins’ Daniel Castano. Houser is the first pitcher to homer in two different games off the same pitcher in the same season since Bronson Arroyo in 2006. Also, according to Elias Sports, Houser is the 15th pitcher (and 17th time overall) since 1893 (when the pitcher’s mound was moved to 60 feet, 6 inches) to have 10 or more strikeouts, not walk a batter and hit a home run.
Josh Hader, Brewers reliever (⬆️ UP)
Three innings, no runs, one hit allowed, no walks, five strikeouts, including No. 400 of his career, making him the fastest in MLB history to reach that milestone. Sounds about right.
Donte DiVincenzo, Bucks guard (⬆️ UP)
After being off the radar for a while and then briefly sidelined with a sore toe, DiVincenzo made his presence felt this past week. In four games he averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 55.8% from the field. He made at least three 3-pointers in each game, combining to hit 15 of 32 attempts from deep (46.9%). His true shooting percentage over those four games was 73.8% and his effective field-goal percentage 73.3% while he posted an insane 139 offensive rating. DiVincenzo has scored in double figures in five straight games. He has only one longer such streak this season – when he opened the season scoring 10+ in the first six games.
Brewers offense (⬇️ DOWN)
Of the 11 players who had at least 10 plate appearances last week over Milwaukee’s six games, only one hit above .235 (Avisail Garcia, 8-for-15, .533) and six hit below .200. The Brewers scored 14 runs over that span – with 10 of those coming in two games combined (six and four).
UW-Milwaukee basketball (⬆️ UP)
Since making the NCAA tournament in 2014, the Panthers have had one winning record -- 20-13 in 2015-16, Rob Jeter’s final season. In the past five years, UWM has gone 11-24, 16-17, 9-22, 12-19 and 10-12. But the No. 4 recruit in the country, Patrick Baldwin, decided to play for his dad, who happens to coach the Panthers. Maybe UWM will be relevant again in 2021-22?
Packers fans (⬆️ UP and ⬇️ DOWN)
The NFL schedule is released Wednesday! We don’t know the status of Aaron Rodgers for the 2021 season! What a mixed bag of emotions. Normally a day to look forward to, where you can see the opening opponent, prime-time games, etc. for Green Bay now is just soiled by wondering how the Packers quarterback drama will play out this offseason.
