Every Thursday this season Bally Sports Wisconsin takes a closer look at some specific young players in the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system -- as well as noting others who might be stepping up -- measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

This is the 9th edition of the 2022 Young Brewers Tracker.

Tyler Black, 2B (age 21/High-A)

Last week: 6 games, 21 AB, 8 H, 2 2B, 4 R, 1 RBI, 6 BB, 8 K, .381 BA

Season: 48 games, 174 AB, .299 BA, .423 OBP, .471 SLG, .894 OPS, 10 2B, 4 3B, 4 HR, 35 R, 30 RBI, 11 SB, 33 BB, 35 K.

Notable: Black had a season high four hits June 21, going 4-for-4 with two doubles vs. Quad Cities. Black started the week with a three-hit game June 16.

Jackson Chourio, OF (age 18/Single-A)

Last week: 6 games, 23 AB, 8 H, 2 2B, 3B, HR, 5 R, 5 RBI, SB, 3 BB, 7 K, .348 BA

Season: 42 games, 179 AB, .347 BA, .398 OBP, .606 SLG, 1.004 OPS, 15 2B, 4 3B, 7 HR, 35 R, 34 RBI, 6 SB, 11 BB, 33 K.

Notable: Chourio had a seven-game hit streak snapped Tuesday. He had three hits June 18 in the first game of a doubleheader and two more, a double and triple, June 19. Thus far in June Chourio is slugging .747.

Sal Frelick, OF (age 22/Double-A)

Last week: 5 games, 21 AB, 8 H, 1 2B, 2 3B, 5 R, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, .381 BA

Season (Double-A): 32 games, 141 AB, .291 BA, .353 OBP, .426 SLG, .779 OPS, 7 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 24 R, 13 RBI, 4 SB, 11 BB, 24 K.

Season (High-A): 21 games, 79 AB, .291 BA, .391 OBP, .456 SLG, .847 OPS, 5 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 12 R, 9 RBI, 6 SB, 13 BB, 14 K.

Notable: Frelick is on a 10-game hit streak in which he’s 18-for-46 (.391) with five extra-base hits (two doubles, two triples, homer). He was hitting .242 before starting this run. However, he had to come out of Biloxi’s June 21 game after one at-bat (a single) due to a hamstring issue and didn’t play the next day.

Garrett Mitchell, OF (age 23/Double-A)

Last week: DNP

Season: 30 games, 107 AB, .224 BA, .331 OBP, .346 SLG, .677 OPS, 3 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 20 R, 11 RBI, 6 SB, 13 BB, 40 K.

Notable: Mitchell remains on the injured list, where he’s been since May 14.

Hedbert Perez, OF (age 19/Single-A)

Last week: 5 games, 21 AB, 6 H, 2B, 2 HR, 4 R, 3 RBI, 1 SB, 1 BB, 7 K, .286 BA

Season: 54 games, 212 AB, .222 BA, .272 OBP, .410 SLG, .682 OPS, 11 2B, 1 3B, 9 HR, 29 R, 30 RBI, 7 SB, 14 BB, 77 K.

Notable: Perez is finding his power stroke. He had a two-homer game in the first game of a June 18 doubleheader and is slugging .508 in June.

Ethan Small, SP (age 25/Triple-A)

Last week: 1 game (1 start), 0-0, 4 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 4 K

Season: 11 games (11 starts), 3-3, 3.44 ERA, 48 2/3 IP, 35 H, 3 HR, 31 BB, 58 K, .192 OBA, 1.33 WHIP.

Notable: Walks continue to be an issue lately. Small issued four bases on balls June 19 at Memphis after walking five in his previous start. He was removed after throwing 87 pitches in that June 19 game.

Brice Turang, SS (age 22/Triple-A)

Last week: 5 games, 20 AB, 7 H, 3 R, 0 RBI, 2 BB, 3 K, 2 SB, .350 BA

Season: 59 games, 253 AB, .281 BA, .331 OBP, .360 SLG, .691 OPS, 9 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 29 R, 28 RBI, 12 SB, 20 BB, 58 K.

Notable: Turang had three multiple-hit games last week giving him four over his last six contests. However, he hasn’t had an extra-base hit yet in June.

Joey Wiemer, OF (age 23/Double-A)

Last week: 6 games, 29 AB, 8 H, 2 HR, 6 R, 7 RBI, 2 SB, 2 BB, 9 K, .276 BA

Season: 55 games, 236 AB, .275 BA, .347 OBP, .538 SLG, .885 OPS, 17 2B, 0 3B, 15 HR, 45 R, 44 RBI, 20 SB, 24 BB, 77 K.

Notable: It was another big week for the former University of Cincinnati product. Wiemer homered June 18 and 22, stole two bases June 19, made two home-run saving catches and picked up his fifth outfield assist. Wiemer is one of two players in all of professional baseball with 15+ HR and 20+ SB this season.

Other notes: Nashville 3B Andruw Monasterio went 8-for-20 (.400) last week with three doubles and a home run. … RHP T.J. Shook had his best start since being promoted to Biloxi, allowing one run in six innings while striking out seven on June 18. … Shuckers UT Cam Devanney (15th round, 2019) was 8-for-21 (.381) last week and is riding a 15-game hitting streak, tied for the longest such streak in Biloxi history, batting .370/.462/.593 (20-for-54) over that span. … Biloxi OF Noah Campbell (19th round, 2017) went 9-for-22 (.409) in six games with three doubles, five runs, five RBI and five walks. He’s slashing .302/.413/.481. … Wisconsin RHP Justin Jarvis (5th round, 2018) allowed two runs on two hits in six innings with a season-high 11 strikeouts in his June 17 start. … Carolina SS Eduardo Garcia was 7-for-24 last week with a double, triple and three home runs, knocking a dinger in three straight games. … It was a big week for the Mudcats offense. C Jeferson Quero was 7-for-20 with a double and two homers. After a slow start he’s slashing .340/.417/.604 in June. … ACL Brewers Gold RHP Patricio Aquino twirled six shutout innings allowing three hits and striking out eight.
