It’s Jordan Love time for the Green Bay Packers. At least for the next couple of weeks.

At his Monday press conference, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said quarterback Aaron Rodgers won’t play in Green Bay’s first two preseason games. Love will start Friday’s game against San Francisco.

LaFleur did say he’d re-evaluate Rodgers’ situation after the Packers’ second game, against New Orleans on Aug. 19. Teams only play three preseason games, with Green Bay’s finale Aug. 25 at Kansas City. The Packers open the regular season Sept. 11 at Minnesota.

Rodgers hasn’t appeared in a preseason game since 2018, when he went 2-for-4 passing for 35 yards.

Love started two preseason games last year, completing 24 of 35 passes for 271 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Danny Etling, a seventh-round pick in 2018 by New England, is the other quarterback on Green Bay’s roster. Etling last played in a game Aug. 22, 2019 for Atlanta.
