Minnesota inked four of its six 2023 NFL draft picks to rookie contracts Friday.
The Vikings signed third-round cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, fourth-round safety Jay Ward, as well as defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy and quarterback Jaren Hall, both selected in the fifth round.
It leaves Blackmon's college teammate, Southern California wide receiver Jordan Addison, the No. 23 overall choice, and seventh-round running back DeWayne McBride, out of UAB, as the club's unsigned picks from this year's annual event.
Blackmon will compete for cornerback reps with fellow youngsters Andrew Booth Jr., Akayleb Evans and veteran free-agent signing Byron Murphy, amongst others. Ward and Roy, teammates at LSU, give Minnesota depth and versatility in the backend and trenches.
The former BYU quarterback Hall was the 12th passer taken in the Class of '23 and will compete with Nick Mullens for the No. 2 job behind Kirk Cousins. Hall is the elder of Minnesota's rookie class, at 25 years old.
