The Minnesota Vikings did the expected Tuesday, placing rookie safety Lewis Cine on injured reserve.

Cine suffered a compound fracture in Sunday’s win over New Orleans in London and had surgery earlier Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic London.

The 2022 first-round pick (No. 22 overall) appeared in three games with just two defensive snaps and 34 on special teams.

To take Cine’s place on the roster, linebacker Ryan Connelly was activated from the reserve/PUP list. A three-year veteran out of Wisconsin, Connelly appeared in 12 games for the Vikings last season – all on special teams – recording three tackles.

Minnesota also released two players off its practice squad – defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman, a 2021 sixth-round pick, and wide receiver Travis Toivonen.
