Minnesota started the preseason with four-straight wins before suffering its first loss to the St. Louis Blues. On Thursday, the Wild responded from that loss with a 4-1 thrashing of the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Wild scored twice in the first period to jump out to an early lead with goals from Marco Rossi and Frederick Gaudreau coming just 13 seconds apart.
Defenseman Jack Johnson scored for the Blackhawks in the second period to cut the deficit in half but Minnesota made sure there was no comeback in store as goals from Mats Zuccarello and Sam Steel put the game well out of reach.
Filip Gustavsson got the start in goal for the Wild and made 25 saves while yielding just the one goal.
Minnesota will wrap up its preseason slate on Saturday with a home contest against the Dallas Stars. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m.
