The Minnesota Twins claimed right-handed pitcher Trevor Megill from the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins outrighted outfielder Jake Cave to Triple-A St. Paul.

Megill made his major-league debut with the Cubs last season. In 28 contests, the right-hander logged a 1-2 record and 8.37 ERA with eight walks and 30 strikeouts. His 11.4 K/9 ranked ninth among National League rookie pitchers (minimum 20 IP).

Cave has played the last four seasons with the Twins. In 281 career games, the outfielder has batted .240/.305/.417 with 28 home runs and 36 doubles.

In 2021, Cave registered a .189/.249/.293 slash line with 62 strikeouts and a .541 OPS.
