Minnesota Twins rookie Alex Kirilloff has elected to undergo surgery later this week to repair a right wrist ligament tear, the team announced Wednesday. Kirilloff has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

It’s the second time this season Kirilloff has landed on the injured list with a wrist injury. His previous stint on the injured list lasted from May 5-21.

To take his place on the roster, the Twins recalled utility man Willians Astudillo from Triple-A St. Paul.

In 59 games this season, Kirilloff is batting .251 with 11 doubles, one triple, eight homers, 34 RBI and a .722 OPS.

Astudillo appeared in 41 contests for Minnesota earlier this season, batting .254 with eight extra-base hits and a .661 OPS. He logged a .281 batting average, two homers and eight RBI in 22 games for Triple-A St. Paul.

The Twins wrap up a series with the rival Chicago White Sox at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday. Tune in to Bally Sports North at 6:30 p.m. for “Twins Live.”
