Every Thursday this season Bally Sports North takes a closer look at some specific young players in the Minnesota Twins ’farm system -- as well as noting others who might be stepping up -- measuring, highlighting and evaluating their progress.

This is the 9th edition of the 2022 Young Twins Tracker.

Jordan Balazovic, SP (age 23/Triple-A)

Last week: 1 game, 0-0, 2 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Season: 7 games (6 starts), 0-2, 7.89 ERA, 21 2/3 IP, 33 H, 5 HR, 14 BB, 19 K, .347 OBA, 2.17 WHIP.

Notable: Balazovic came out of the bullpen for the first time this season as the third pitcher used in a 10-1 loss to Columbus on June 16. He’s thrown under 50 pitches in each of his last two appearances.

Matt Canterino, SP (age 24/Double-A)

Last week: 1 game (1 start), 0-0, 3 2/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K

Season: 11 games (10 starts), 0-1, 1.83 ERA, 34 1/3 IP, 17 H, 1 HR, 22 BB, 50 K, .142 OBA, 1.14 WHIP.

Notable: Canterino was placed on the injured list June 8 due to elbow tendinitis.

Ronny Henriquez, SP (age 21/Triple-A)

Last week: 1 game (1 start), 0-0, 5 1/3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K

Season: 11 games (8 starts), 0-3, 6.95 ERA, 44 IP, 51 H, 11 HR, 18 BB, 46 K, .288 OBA, 1.57 WHIP.

Notable: Henriquez had one of his best starts of the season June 21 at Buffalo, allowing two or fewer runs for the first time since May 10. He has, however, lowered his ERA over a full point over his last three appearances. On the downside, he did give up two homers, which has been a problem all season.

Notable: Martin had a hit in each of the three games he played last week but he missed some time June 17-20. He returned June 21, going 1-for-4 with a run and 1-for-2 the following day.

Noah Miller, SS (age 19/Single-A)

Last week: DNP

Season: 10 games (10 starts), 2-2, 3.00 ERA, 48 IP, 37 H, 3 HR, 17 BB, 50 K, .211 OBA, 1.13 WHIP.

Notable: Woods Richardson is not on the injured list but hasn’t pitched since June 11.

Winder was activated from the IL on Wednesday and sent back to the Saints. … Wichita OF Matt Wallner (1st round, 2019) slugged three home runs last week, including two vs. San Antonio on June 21. Wallner also walked eight times. He’s slashing .278/.412/.561 this season with 15 homers in 60 games.
