The Minnesota Twins placed catcher Mitch Garver on the paternity list, the team announced Thursday.

Garver and his wife, Sarah, are expecting their first child.

To replace Garver on the 26-man roster, the Twins called up catcher Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A St. Paul.

Since being reinstated from the injured list Monday, Garver has gone 2-for-6 with two homers in two games. On the season, the 30-year-old is batting .230 with eight doubles, 10 homers and an .884 OPS in 43 contests.

In 30 games with Minnesota this season, Rortvedt is hitting .129 (9-for-70) with one double, two dingers and five RBI.

The Twins begin a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night.
