The Minnesota Twins placed left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced Wednesday.
To take his place on the roster, the Twins recalled right-hander Shaun Anderson from Triple-A St. Paul.
Smeltzer has made one appearance for Minnesota this season, allowing one unearned run with three strikeouts and one walk in 4 2/3 innings April 24. He didn’t appear in a game after being called up May 6.
The Twins acquired Anderson in a trade with San Francisco on Feb. 4. In 2020, Anderson posted a 3.52 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 18 games (15 1/3 innings).
Anderson made two relief appearances for Triple-A St. Paul this season and didn’t allow a run in three innings of work.
The 26-year-old will be in uniform Wednesday night when Minnesota resumes its series against the Chicago White Sox.
