Former Minnesota Wild forward Rem Pitlick was claimed off waivers by Montreal on Wednesday.
Pitlick, a Minnesota native and former Gophers hockey star, appeared in 20 games and recorded 11 points (six goals, five assists) this season for his hometown team.
On Nov. 13 against Seattle, Pitlick notched a natural hat trick, which occurs when a player scores three consecutive goals. He became the first player in Wild history, and 31st in the NHL, to tally a hat trick in the same game that included his first career goal.
Pitlick played fewer than 10 minutes in each of Minnesota's most recent two contests. He was placed on waivers Tuesday.
