Ko Kieft is the latest Minnesota Gophers player to be drafted by Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers selected the tight end in the sixth round, No. 218. He joins other recent Gophers in Tampa Bay, Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tyler Johnson, who were chosen in 2019.
Kieft is the first Minnesota tight end to be drafted since Maxx Williams in 2014.
Kieft acted as a glorified offensive lineman in Minnesota’s offense. In 2021, he caught seven passes for 101 yards and one touchdown and blocked for a unit that totaled 4,681 yards.
In five seasons with the Gophers, Kieft registered 12 catches for 166 yards and two scores.
At Minnesota’s Pro Day, the 6-foot-4, 259-pound native of Sioux Center, Iowa, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.98 seconds, completed the short shuttle in 4.53 seconds and 3-cone drill in 7.07 seconds. Kieft also posted jumps of 32 inches (vertical) and 9 feet, 3 inches (broad).
