The University of Minnesota men's hockey team defeated Alaska 3-1 on Friday night.
Tristian Broz got the scoring started for the Gophers with his first career goal for Minnesota. Matthew Knies scored minutes later to give the Gophers a two goal lead.
Blake McLaughlin and Jackson Lacombe would add goals for Minnesota to give the Gophers a 4-1 victory. Justen Close recorded 14 saves in his first career start in net.
Minnesota hosts Alaska on Saturday at 6 p.m. on Bally Sports North.
