MINNEAPOLIS – Bally Sports North, home of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lynx, Twins and Wild, today announced Michael Grady as the new play-by-play announcer for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Grady, a native of Indiana and 2016 Indiana Sportscaster of the Year, comes to Bally Sports North from the YES Network where for the last five seasons he was the network’s sideline reporter covering the Brooklyn Nets and providing play-by-play for select Nets games. In 2019, he won an Emmy Award as part of the network’s season-long coverage of the Nets. Grady also handled play-by-play duties for YES’ WNBA New York Liberty telecasts and has filled in as host of the network’s New York Yankees pre and postgame shows and Yankees Batting Practice Today. Grady has also spent time on the NFL sidelines with CBS Sports, as well as calling play-by-play for college football and basketball at the network. In addition, he’s served as a play-by-play announcer for NBA TV and Turner Sports.

Prior to the YES Network, Grady worked as a sports anchor at WRTV-TV, the ABC affiliate in Indianapolis, where he won an Emmy Award for his coverage of the 2016 Indianapolis 500. He was also the Indiana Pacers’ public address announcer from 2010-17 and the host of the "Grady & Big Joe" show on ESPN’s The Fan.

“Today is a thrilling day for myself and my family, this has been a lifelong dream to be an NBA play-byplay announcer,” said Grady. I can’t wait to join Jim and the rest of the Bally Sports North crew calling games for this exciting franchise.”

Born and raised on the east side of Indianapolis, Grady received his Radio Marketing Certification from Vincennes University in 2003. He has worked on behalf of the American Diabetes Association, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and served on the board of the Arts Council of Indianapolis.

“Michael’s unique background and basketball acumen will serve him well in his new role. Fans will enjoy his smooth delivery for this exciting new era of Timberwolves basketball and he will be a great complement to longtime Timberwolves analyst Jim Petersen,” said Tony Tortorici, Executive Producer, Bally Sports North.

His first appearance on Bally Sports North will be during the Timberwolves upcoming preseason games.
