The Tokyo Olympics are back this summer, but before flying overseas, USA Basketball will spend some time in Sin City.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will hold training camps in Las Vegas in July, and the new partnership between USA Basketball and MGM Resorts will also host four countries that are competing in the Games, the two groups announced Thursday.
The men’s team will begin camp July 6 following the conclusion of the NBA Finals. It will have a five-game exhibition schedule that features matchups with Nigeria, Australia (twice), Argentina and Spain.
The women’s team will likely tip off around July 12, after the WNBA takes a break for the Olympics on July 11. Australia and Nigeria are among the teams set to come to Vegas for exhibition contests on the women’s side.
Neither roster is set, but the head coaches are: Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs for the men’s team and the University of South Carolina's Dawn Staley for the women’s group.
The USWNT is looking to win its seventh consecutive Olympic gold medal while the USMNT goes for its fourth. Both teams come into the Games ranked No. 1 by FIBA.
