Sporting Kansas City will be without one of its best players from the last two seasons in 2022, the team announced Tuesday.
Alan Pulido will miss the 2022 MLS season while rehabbing from left knee surgery that is scheduled for Jan. 17 in Los Angeles. The 30-year-old forward's recovery is expected to take nine to 12 months.
Pulido signed a four-year contract through 2023 with Sporting after being acquired in December 2019 from LIGA MX club Chivas de Guadalajara. The Mexican striker tallied six goals and five assists in 12 games in 2020 and eight goals and three assists in 21 games in 2021. He helped Sporting finish first in the Western Conference in 2020 and third in 2021.
