The Kansas City Royals added a potential contributor to their bullpen Thursday with the signing of right-hander Arodys Vizcaíno to a minor league contract.
Vizcaíno, 31, has a 13-11 record with a 3.01 ERA and 50 saves in 206 career games (all in relief) for the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. The Dominican Republic native made his major league debut with the Braves in 2011 and last appeared in the the majors in 2019, again with Atlanta. He did not pitch in 2020 and appeared in only seven games in 2021, all with the New York Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
Vizcaíno's best season was 2017, when he pitched in a career-high 62 games and went 5-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 14 saves for the Braves.
