Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must be started in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds in .5 PPR format are — QB: 18 fantasy points, RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers), WR: 11 fantasy points, TE: 10 fantasy points.

6% $4,500 at Panthers Saints -3 40.5

On the cusp of unleashing. That’s a description which invariably applies to the rookie. Given the brewing statistical storm, Olave is worth a WR3 or FLEX audition in deeper formats. Against the Falcons and Bucs, he compiled a 22.6 target share (16 in total), 20.1 average depth of target (WR3) and the most air yards (321) of any wide receiver. Unfortunately, due to Jameis Winston’s off-the-mark throws, he’s also No. 1 in unrealized air yards (227) at the position. All are clues, that, eventually, Olave and his quirky QB are going to connect on multiple explosive pass plays. An eruption similar to Garrett Wilson’s blasting of the Browns in Week 2 (8-104-2) could be on the horizon.

Carolina just might be the ideal forgiving opponent. Facing a pair of paltry passing attacks in Week 1 (Browns) and Week 2 (Giants), the Panthers limited receivers to 26 receptions (on 42 targets) for 218 yards and no scores. Olave’s projected primary assignment, Donte Jackson, has given up only a 64.1 passer rating. Still, during the preseason, the Panthers secondary was forecasted by reputable outlets to be a middling unit. It’s entirely possible it’s a pass defense beyond common belief. It could also be a unit that was largely unchallenged by Jacoby Brissett and Daniel Jones. Olave proves it’s the latter.

Fearless Forecast: 4 receptions, 63 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 14.3 fantasy points

19% $4,500 at Cardinals Rams -3.5 48.5

When it comes to defending the tight end position, the Cardinals devour NyQuil-marinated chicken in large quantities. Feasted upon by Travis Kelce and Darren Waller in Weeks 1 and 2, they allowed a combined 19 receptions, 212 receiving yards and three TDs to plus-sized targets. That shakes out to the most fantasy points allowed to TEs. Many deem Higbee as classic bait, but his 20 targets logged rank first among tight ends. Averaging 33.0 routes per game and an appreciable 1.64 yards per route run (TE10), Higbee is worth any and all downsides given the matchup.

Fearless Forecast: 5 receptions, 45 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 13.0 fantasy points

Week 3 Bonus Flame

Brandin Cooks, WR, Texans

58% $5,800 at Bears Bears -2.5 40

Similar to your pubescent younger brother trying to grow an Anthony Kiedis-like rat ‘stache to impress the ladies, Bears rookie corner Kyler Gordon is getting repeatedly picked on. So far targeted 18 times, he’s surrendered 15 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns. That shakes out to a nearly impeccable 155.8 passer rating allowed. The DB’s growing pains present an obvious detonation opportunity for Cooks, who through two weeks has logged 30.6% of the Texans’ target share. He also tallied a highly influential 9.6 average depth of target. Yes, it could be a disgusting affair, but odds are strong the Wolfgang Puck of WRs dishes out a five-star Michelin rated meal.

Fearless Forecast: 6 receptions, 77 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 16.7 fantasy points

Season: 2-3

Last week: 2-1 (Josh Palmer 11.1 fantasy points, Adam Thielen 9.2, Evan Engram 13.6)
