Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must be started in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds in .5 PPR format are — QB: 18 fantasy points, RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers), WR: 11 fantasy points, TE: 10 fantasy points.

When you’re a timeshare running back brimming with juice who only receives the occasional touch, frustration can mount. But there isn’t a better way to release workload angst than against the Hello Kitties of Detroit. Clawless on the ground, the Lions have surrendered an ultra-friendly 5.46 yards per carry, 133.2 total yards per game, eight combined TDs and the second-most fantasy points to RBs. And don’t remotely think the bye week has suddenly rejuvenated Detroit’s run defense. This is a skill-less bunch that routinely allows 18-wheeler-wide running lanes for opposing backs.
Pollard will continue to share the sugar with Zeke Elliott. However, as witnessed against the Bengals and Colts, the Cowboys’ backup RB possesses Lamborghini legs. Considering his 41.0% opportunity share, he’ll likely log only 11-13 total touches. Still, considering he’s RB5 in YAC per attempt (4.18) and top-10 in yards per touch (5.8) this season, it’s enough volume to crank the fantasy worth.
As the final seconds tick off, Pollard should have inflicted enough damage to justify a RB2 start in 12-team leagues. The man will motor.
Fearless Forecast: 12 carries, 51 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 13 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 13.4 fantasy points

Doug Pederson is a time traveler who is reverting to once-dated football tactics to move chains and accumulate points. Instead of leaning on Trevor Lawrence’s arm, he has morphed the Jaguars into a steamrolling run team. For the second time, they demolished the Colts on the ground, racking up 243 yards against a defense that had surrendered a mere 3.3 yards per carry to RBs entering the week. The victor was different from the teams’ Week 2 meeting in Indy, but Etienne played an explosive part in last Sunday’s rematch in Jacksonville. On just 12 touches, he compiled 108 yards in the 34-27 defeat.
His growing role on the ground and indispensability in the passing game has the sophomore back rising up the ranks. He has averaged 6.7 yards per touch (RB2) and checks in at No. 11 in yards per route run. The one-loss Giants have shocked the NFL, but they’ve exhibited a fungible run defense. On the year, they’ve given up 5.48 yards per carry and 144.8 total yards per game. Due to the ripple effects of another forceful bye week, Etienne is a sure-fire RB2 in 12-team formats.
Fearless Forecast: 10 carries, 62 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 24 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 16.1 fantasy points

Shot multiple times in a carjacking just weeks ago, Robinson has returned to football in a remarkably rapid fashion. As witnessed in the preseason, he was always considered an important centerpiece in the Washington run game, particularly as a red-zone presence. After last Thursday’s stirring effort, it appears he has completely usurped Antonio Gibson as the starter.
In Chicago, Robinson played 20 snaps and tallied 17 carries for 60 yards with a TD. Impressively, the big-bodied rusher totaled 73.3 yards after initial contact. Don’t think for a nanosecond that Carson Wentz missing time with a broken finger will impact him. The transition to Taylor Heinicke is a parallel move. The matchup is an exploitable one, too. The mediocre Packers have conceded 5.26 yards per carry, 119.3 rushing yards per game, four TDs and the 11th-most fantasy points to RBs.
In a comeback story for the ages, Robinson writes another heartwarming chapter.
Fearless Forecast: 16 carries, 64 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 reception, 7 receiving yards, 13.6 fantasy points
