Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must be started in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds in .5 PPR format are — QB: 18 fantasy points, RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers), WR: 11 fantasy points, TE: 10 fantasy points.

To this devout Bears fan, watching Green Bay’s derailment with Aaron Rodgers at the helm is every Kermit the Frog sipping tea GIF personified.

Every football fan, even the casual ones with the lowest I.Q., saw this coming. When Davante Adams was allowed to walk and no suitable effort was made to replace him, even with noteworthy names available at the trade deadline, you reap what you sow. It’s arguable the Packers are not only the most disappointing team in the NFC, but they also could be the worst. Along with their offensive debacles, they’ve conceded 4.98 yards per carry, 151.1 rushing yards per game, five total TDs and the 12th-most fantasy points to running backs. Their swoon, much to the delight of others within the NFC North, shall gloriously continue.

Unlike the thermometer readings in Northern Wisconsin this time of year, Pollard’s temperature is red hot. Ezekiel Elliott’s potential return from a sprained MCL muddies the waters for Week 10, but even if the veteran suits up, Pollard should receive 13-14 touches at a minimum. With Zeke on the field during Weeks 1 through 7, Pollard averaged 43.5% of the opportunity share. The pacesetter in yards after contact per attempt (5.02) and No. 3 in yards per touch (6.3), he typically fires the turbo boosters when leaned on. And he’s done so facing the eighth-most stacked fronts in the league (27.2%).

If you’re remotely debating Pollard in shallow formats, stop pondering and activate him now.

Fearless Forecast (with Zeke): 13 carries, 72 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 16 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 15.8 fantasy points

After exhibiting Buffalo’s worst offensive performance of the season against the fully legitimized Jets, Josh Allen, assuming his UCL injury doesn’t sideline him, will immediately unpack his shiny new toy.

Acquired at the trade deadline from the clearly tanking Colts, Hines is a terrifically skilled pass-catching back who rubber-stamps a rich-get-richer situation. Utilized only sporadically this season in Indy, he recorded a 31.7 snap percentage and inexplicably ran a mere 12.6 routes per game. With Devin Singletary and James Cook also involved, Hines won’t be relied upon often, but his four snaps played last week were a byproduct of unfamiliarity. Expect his role to grow.

Against emerging hip-hop star Kirk Cousins and crew, who trot out a Vikings defense that’s allowed 5.3 receptions per game to RBs, Hines is worth a squeeze.

Fearless Forecast: 3 carries, 14 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 21 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 13.4 fantasy points

Cordarrelle Patterson, Falcons

In an old-school Falcons offense perfectly equipped for a black-and-white TV, Patterson was dynamite in a bye-heavy week. On 24 snaps and 14 total opportunities, he racked 53 total yards and two TDs. Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley will continue to be involved, but Patterson should operate again as the alpha dog. Ruff, indeed.

In a critical rematch in the downtrodden NFC South, Atlanta’s ground game will proliferate. Carolina has surrendered 4.77 yards per carry, 115.1 rushing yards per game, 13 total TDs and the third-most fantasy points to rushers. Displaying sharpened talons, Patterson is a certifiable RB2 in 12-team leagues.

Fearless Forecast: 14 carries, 57 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 1 reception, 8 receiving yards, 13.0 fantasy points

Season record: 12-12

Last week: 2-1 (Tyler Allgeier 13.3, Jamaal Williams 10.1, Khalil Herbert 2.3)
