Each week, the Noise highlights under-started names who he believes are destined to torch the competition. To qualify, each player must be started in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues. Speaking as an accountability advocate, I will post results, whether genius or moronic, the following week. Scoring thresholds in .5 PPR format are — QB: 18 fantasy points, RB: 12 fantasy points (10 for shockers), WR: 11 fantasy points, TE: 10 fantasy points.

#MandatoryMontgomery, due to this elevated analyst’s voice, once rippled through the fantasy landscape ad nauseam. Some found the phrase incorrigible. Others felt it was worth tailing no matter the heartache. Those who adhered to the last group in 2021 were rewarded handsomely. The divisive rusher finished RB14 in .5 PPR settings. But the exit of Matt Nagy combined with Khalil Herbert’s efforts last season as a fill-in squashed the hype entering August drafts. As a result, Montgomery was viewed as an undesirable RB2, typically acquired in Round 4 or later in 12-team drafts.
However, as witnessed by his defender-shaking jukes against rival Green Bay, Montgomery is tired of the unwarranted derision. He’s still a three-down RB with the skills to undress would-be tacklers. Through two games, on nearly 70% of the Bears’ opportunity share, he notched an impressive 3.56 YAC per attempt and 31.3 missed tackle rate.
Last Sunday, Houston’s stiffness defensively in Denver was commendable, but the Broncos’ play-clock ineptitude and play-calling were mostly to blame. Including their Mile High showing, the Texans have allowed 4.86 yards per carry, 183.5 total yards per game and the 10th-most fantasy points to rushers. In other words, abide by the hashtag. Monty will be a problem for Lovie Smith in his reacquaintance with his former employer.
Fearless Forecast: 15 carries, 71 rushing yards, 2 receptions, 12 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, 14.3 fantasy points

Medical marvel. That best sums up his improbable return to fantasy starting lineups. With Robinson stationed well behind the 8-ball off an Achilles injury, a setback that has sapped rusher productivity dramatically in the past, it’s jarring just how nimble he’s looked through two games. Against the Commanders and Colts, he’s tallied 41 carries and an excellent 3.35 yards after contact per attempt. The Chargers defense is rigid in nearly all facets. Up front, however, the Bolts have allowed a hefty 5.78 yards per carry to RBs. Robinson should be weighed as a RB2/Flex in 12-team and deeper formats.

The Eagles are soaring. Through a pair of spectacular weeks, they fended off a feisty Detroit team on the road and humiliated Minnesota from start to finish. Unsurprisingly to this enthusiast, Jalen Hurts has shown marked improvement as a passer. Given his running skills, Sanders’ hot ground start (4.27 YAC/attempt) and Philly’s top-flight offensive line, the Eagles could fly well above preseason expectations. Sanders won’t often blast the box score, but against a pushover opponent, the rival Commanders, he’s a trustworthy play. Washington has yielded 6.80 yards per carry, 155.0 total yards per game, three TDs and the second-most fantasy points to RBs. A heavily discounted RB3 on draft day, Sanders again shows sharpened talons.
Fearless Forecast: 15 carries, 63 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 3 receptions, 14 receiving yards, 15.2 fantasy points
