For the second day in a row, the St. Louis Cardinals have recalled a pitcher from Triple-A to make the start in that night's game.

Jake Woodford was the man Monday, and he got the win in the Cardinals' series-opening win over the Chicago Cubs. Johan Oviedo got the call for Tuesday night when he was summoned from Memphis. In a corresponding move, right-hander Junior Fernández was optioned to Memphis.

Unlike Woodford, who was making his first start of 2021 and just the second of his major league career, Oviedo will make his 12th start (13th appearance) of 2021 and the 17th of his career.

The 23-year-old right-hander is still looking for his first MLB win. He is 0-5 with a 5.09 ERA in 2021. Coverage of Tuesday's Cards-Cubs game begins at 6:30 p.m. on Bally Sports Midwest.

Fernández has a 5.60 ERA in 14 games spanning 17.2 innings with St. Louis this season.
