Jordan Montgomery's five strong innings and three Cardinal home runs led St. Louis to an 8-2 win over the Orioles in their final spring game.

St. Louis rolled out a starting lineup that looked fit for Opening Day.

The Cardinals gave Montgomery support early, following Brendan Donovan's leadoff walk with a Lars Nootbaar single and Paul Goldschmidt's sac fly to go up 1-0.

Montgomery, in turn, gave the Cardinals five innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out four.

Nolan Gorman hit his fourth home run of the spring to break the 1-1 tie and put St. Louis back in front in the fourth inning.

Jacob Buchberger, who played with the Cardinals affiliates at High-A Peoria and Double-A Springfield last season, hit a pinch-hit three-run home run to extend the lead to 5-1 in the fifth.

Chandler Redmond added on even more insurance to the Cardinals' lead in the ninth with a pinch-hit three-run homer of his own. Redmond played 94 games with Double-A Springfield in 2022.

Four Cardinal relievers combined to allow one hit over a final four scoreless innings to secure the win and close out spring training play on a high note.

The Cardinals host the Toronto Blue Jays on Opening Day at Busch Stadium on Thursday. Bally Sports Midwest coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. with an extended edition of Cardinals Live pregame.
