The St. Louis Blues assigned defenseman Steven Santini to the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday.

Santini has played in four games with the Blues since being recalled from Springfield on Jan. 4. He tallied one assist in that stretch, against the Calgary Flames on Jan. 10.

The 27-year-old defenseman has also played in 32 games with the Thunderbirds this season and has five points (two goals, three assists).

St. Louis ended December and began January with a slew of injuries but is hopeful to get a couple players back to action soon. The Blues activated forward Logan Brown from injured reserve on Friday, and forward Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Torey Krug seem close to a return as well, according to coach Craig Berube.

The Blues conclude a seven-game homestand on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres at 6:30 p.m. on Bally Sports Midwest.
