In early February of 2020, still a few weeks before the world knew what was coming with a pandemic, Chris Pronger found out that his jersey number 44 would be retired by the St. Louis Blues.

Now he knows when.

The Blues announced Friday that No. 44 will rise to the rafters at Enterprise Center on Jan. 17, 2022, when the Blues host the Nashville Predators. The ceremony was supposed to take place last season, but the team put it off while attendance was limited by COVID-19 protocols.

Pronger, a 2015 Hockey Hall of Famer, spent nine seasons with the Blues. His jersey will be the eighth retired by the Blues, along with Bob Gassoff, Barclay Plager, Brian Sutter, Bernie Federko, Al MacInnis, Brett Hull and Bob Plager.
