The St. Louis Cardinals kicked off day one of MLB's international signing period by finalizing deals with 12 international prospects on Saturday.

The newcomers to the Cardinal farm system include seven pitchers, two shortstops, a pair of outfielders, and one catcher and represent the Dominican Republic, South Korea, Mexico, and Venezuela.

Jonathan Mejia, a 16-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic is the highest-rated Cardinals signee according to MLB Pipeline, coming in as the 14th best player in this year's international class.

The other 11 signees include Arfeni Batista, Junior Chirinos, Won-Bin Cho, Diego Dominguez, Jovi Galvez, Yordy Herrera, Yordarlin Pena, Luis Rodriguez, Leonel Sequera, Jose Suriel, and Nelfy Ynfante.
