The Kansas City Royals didn't appear to have the luck of the Irish on their side during a 12-1 St. Patrick's Day loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday in Tempe, Arizona.

Royals starter Jonathan Heasley struggled over 2.2 innings, allowing nine earned runs on nine hits, including a two-run homer by Brandon Drury and a Jake Lamb grand slam. Heasley issued one walk while striking out two.

Lefty Christian Chamberlain was called up from minor league camp and made his first career Cactus League appearance, relieving Heasley with one out in the third. Chamberlain was charged with two earned runs on two hits and two walks over 0.2 innings.

John Rave drove in the Royals' lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Shortstop Maikel Garcia doubled in the fifth inning for Kansas City's only extra-base hit. Nick Pratto had two singles in the loss.

ROSTER MOVES

Heasley was optioned to Triple-A Omaha following the loss. Right-handed reliever Yefri Del Rosario was reassigned to minor league camp.

The Royals have a pair of games against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Daniel Lynch will start a game in Surprise, Arizona, while Jackson Kowar will start for the other half of the split squad at Las Vegas Ballpark in Nevada. The game in Vegas will air on Bally Sports Kansas City at 3:00 p.m. CT.
