Dairon Blanco and Tyler Gentry went deep as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-3 in a Cactus League matchup in Glendale, Arizona on Wednesday.
Blanco, a 29-year-old non-roster invitee who was briefly in the big leagues with the Royals last year, hit a solo shot off Davis Martin in the second inning for his third homer this spring. Gentry, ranked as the No. 8 prospect in Kansas City's system by MLB Pipeline, went deep for the first time during the Cactus League schedule, hitting a solo homer off Martin in the fourth.
Nate Eaton added an RBI double for the Royals, who finished with just five hits.
Lefty Ryan Yarbrough made his first start of the spring — it was his third appearance overall — and allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out two and walking none over two innings.
Dylan Coleman allowed a run on three hits in the eighth inning but recorded all three of his outs via the strikeout.
Brady Singer will make his first start since returning from the World Baseball Classic as the Royals visit the Padres in Peoria on Thursday. The game will air on Bally Sports Kansas City at 3:00 p.m. CT.
