Major League Baseball has issued a three-game suspension to Kansas City Royals pitcher Amir Garrett over an incident with a fan in Chicago earlier this month. Garrett is expected to appeal the suspension.

The suspension comes after Garrett tossed a drink at a spectator near the Royals' dugout on Aug. 2. It happened during a road game against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.

While the suspension of Garrett had been scheduled to begin Monday night, the first night of the Royals' seven-game road trip, he has appealed the suspension. He will be available out of the bullpen Monday as the Royals begin a division series with the Minnesota Twins.
